The International SeaKeepers Society is a global non-profit dedicated to advancing ocean conservation through collaborative marine research, education, and community engagement. By partnering with the scientific community and the private yachting sector, SeaKeepers provides logistical support for oceanographic research and environmental monitoring.
Through its flagship DISCOVERY Program, privately owned vessels are used as platforms of opportunity, enabling scientists to conduct field-based research in coastal and offshore environments that may otherwise be difficult to access. The DISCOVERY Fleet includes hundreds of vessels worldwide whose owners donate vessel time, expertise, and resources to support scientist-led expeditions and citizen science initiatives.
These collaborations facilitate research on key ocean challenges including marine biodiversity, climate change, ocean pollution, and ecosystem health. In parallel, SeaKeepers develops education and outreach programmes that promote ocean literacy and stewardship.
By integrating research, education, and industry engagement, SeaKeepers demonstrates how cross-sector partnerships can advance marine science and strengthen global conservation efforts.
