Country Needs People (CNP) is an independent not-for-profit committed to championing Indigenous land and sea management across Australia by supporting, advocating and amplifying the vital work of Indigenous Rangers, Indigenous Protected Areas (IPAs), and Indigenous caring for Country. CNP works to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in protecting and restoring biodiversity across their lands and seas while sustaining, strengthening and transmitting culture on Country.
The presentation will explore the Indigenous Protected Area (IPA's) program pertaining to Sea Country custodianship. The presentation will analyse the history of the program, it's evolution, and how the it's expansion has contributed to Australia's target to protect 30% of Sea Country by 2030. The presentation will include a short video and case studies from IPA's across Australia, including a Q & A with IPA rangers from across Australia.
