Mollie L Rickwood

I am a PhD student at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, studying the trophic ecology of temperate mesophotic ecosystems. In particular, I am interested in understanding the potential contribution of mesophotic sponges to fish production and am using a variety of methods including stomach content analysis, stable isotope analysis, fatty acid profiling and ecosystem modelling to resolve this. Originally from the UK, I completed an undergraduate degree in biochemistry at the University of Bath and a masters in biodiversity and conservation at the University of Exeter. For my masters thesis, I used statistical modelling to understand shifts in individual- and population-level nesting phenology of green turtles. Before commencing my PhD studies, I worked as a research assistant for the Convex Seascape Survey working to improve estimates of global seabed carbon disturbance by trawling.
