Yaw Kwaafo Awuah-Mensah
Yaw is a PhD candidate in Mathematics at Edith Cowan University, Australia. His research sits at the intersection of statistics, marine ecology, and climate science, focusing on how marine heatwaves affect marine species and fisheries. His work examines how thermal extremes are characterised, how ecological responses are quantified, and how advanced statistical methods, particularly spatial and spatiotemporal models, can strengthen inference under a changing climate. Using Western Australian fisheries as a key application, his broader research aims to improve the evidence base for climate-responsive fisheries management and adaptation. Yaw holds an MPhil. in Mathematical Statistics and a bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.
