Niranjana Joy Manayil Australian Marine Sciences Association 2026 Conference

Niranjana Joy Manayil

I am Niranjana Joy Manayil, a Master of Research (MRes) student at the School of Science, UNSW Canberra, under the supervision of Dr Thomas Oliver, Dr Alissa Flatley, and Dr Mark Hoggard (ANU). My current research focuses on reconstructing Holocene sea-level and palaeoenvironmental change from sedimentary archives along the southeastern Australian passive margin by integrating coastal geomorphology, multi-proxy geochronology, and glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) modelling. I hold an M.Sc. in Geology from the University of Delhi, where my dissertation examined glacial sediment transport pathways at Chorabari Glacier in the Northwest Himalayas. Prior to my MRes, I worked as a Hydrogeologist and Groundwater Modeler at Geo Climate Risk Solutions in India and conducted sea-level research at the Australian National University as a Future Research Talent Award scholar. I am a recipient of the UNSW Canberra Tuition Fee Scholarship (2026) and the ANU Future Research Talent Award (2024). My technical skills include Python, Fortran, GMT, MODFLOW, ArcGIS Pro, and QGIS, with hands-on fieldwork experience in both coastal and glacial environments.
