Nidhi S. Menon

I am a PhD student in the Marine Spatial Ecology Lab at the University of Queensland. Supervised by Professor Peter Mumby, my research focuses on modelling shifts in fish population dynamics with coral degradation across the Great Barrier Reef, aiming to inform future conservation and management decisions under various climate scenarios. My research interests include fish community ecology, marine reserves, and integrating climate resilience into marine management strategies. I obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Hong Kong, culminating in an undergraduate project investigating the impacts of marine heatwaves on sea urchin behaviour and physiology. I then graduated with distinction with a Master of Marine Biology from the University of Western Australia, with a Masters thesis focused on monitoring the changes in fish assemblages within the Ngari Capes Marine Park, following the creation of No-Take Zones in 2019. My research was facilitated by a collaboration with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions of the Government of Western Australia, where I worked as a Technical Officer in the Marine Science Program post my graduation.
