Tonya Grant

Tonya Grant has ancestry of Yuru and Yidinji First Nations’ and Australian South Sea Islander peoples. Tonya has been working in Indigenous affairs for State and Federal Governments and non-Government sectors. For over 15 years Tonya has been engaging and brokering relationships between First Nations’ peoples and the different organisations she has been employed with. Tonya has performed various roles working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in her positions. Tonya is currently employed at Australian Institute of Marine Science as an Indigenous Partnership Coordinator-Integrated Marine Observing System [IMOS]. Tonya’s position is supported through the IMOS National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy funding. Her role is working with First Nation peoples for the IMOS Sea Country Initiative. Today she will be presenting on the “how” of how to build meaningful relationships with First Nations’ peoples when wanting to work on their sea Country.
