Ahmed Gad
Ahmed is a marine ecologist and PhD candidate at James Cook University, focusing on maximising the ecological value of marine infrastructure in tropical Australia. His research is supported by a scholarship funded through the North Queensland Bulk Ports (NQBP)–JCU (TropWATER) partnership.
He recently joined GHD Global in the UAE as a Marine Scientist, a role informed by both his professional experience and doctoral research. Ahmed has over eight years of experience as a marine ecologist and environmental scientist across environmental consultancy and academia. He holds an MSc in Biological Oceanography from Louisiana State University, awarded through the Fulbright scholarship.
His expertise includes nature-based solutions, environmental impact assessments (EIAs), marine biodiversity and coral reef surveys, Phase I environmental audits, and environmental management and compliance. He also has strong experience in academic and technical writing, publishing, and proposal development. Ahmed is Reef Check EcoDiver certified and a PADI Rescue Diver.
