Jordan Ivey

Jordan Ivey is a proud Bundjalung and South Sea Islander man dedicated to elevating Indigenous leadership in coral reef restoration, marine science and Sea Country stewardship. He is the Indigenous Futures Coordinator at the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS), where he leads programs that prepare Indigenous Ranger groups to deliver scalable coral larval restoration, marine monitoring and future reef restoration deployments. Jordan also leads initiatives that create broader pathways and opportunities for Indigenous peoples within AIMS and across partner organisations, supporting training, research participation and workforce development. A qualified commercial diver with a degree in Marine Science and Management, Jordan brings extensive field experience in coral spawning, larval rearing and reef monitoring, combined with program design, governance and cultural protocol expertise. He contributes to several advisory committees focused on Indigenous engagement and First Nations leadership within marine science. Jordan’s career spans roles as an Indigenous Engagement Coordinator at AIMS, more than five years working in coral restoration and monitoring research, and nearly a decade in bush regeneration on his Country. Jordan’s work is driven by his passion for looking after coral reefs and creating real opportunities for his people. He focuses on blending Traditional Knowledge with marine science in ways that honour culture, strengthen communities and support long-term stewardship of Sea Country.
